Horse in the Clouds

A horse grazes at an Amish farm Thursday evening on Route 12 near Lowville. 
Lakendrick A. Darby, 17, practices a style of dance called "jerkin'" while listening to his iPod Friday outside his house on Clay Street.  Mr. Darby said jerkin' mixes hip hop and break dancing.

West Carthage firefighter John E. Shearer heads back to the truck while crews respond to a house fire neighboring 33049 Whittaker Road Tuesday morning.  The home was unoccupied when the call came in at 9:00 a.m., the cause is under investigation.

Vernon A. Scoville walks to the barn Thursday past his 35 foot snowman built with a snow blower, hay elevator, truckloads of snow, and about 50 friends, at his home on Route 126 in Champion.  The snowman sports three tires for buttons, a traffic cone nose, five gallon barrel lid eyes, a shirt for a scarf, and pool material for a hat.  Mr. Scoville, who built a 25 footer last year, said, "Believe me, I'm just a big kid," and that the public is welcome to stop by for pictures.
